Old Jalukie Community Conserve Area
The Old Jalukie Community Biodiversity Reserve, situated in Jalukie land of Nagaland, spans approximately 380 hectares of subtropical rainforest. This pristine landscape has been safeguarded by the Zeme indigenous community since the 1980s.
Recognized as a biodiversity hotspot, a home to the Red Serow, Chinese pangolins, Amur Falcons, the Imperial Pigeon, we are working with community leaders and youth to undertake to formulate a robust landscape management plan.
This plan defines pathway to empowers indigenous communities to make pivotal decisions and take ownership their invaluable resources. As a process, we are developing a sustainable financing plan through local entrepreneurship, ensuring the longevity of these critical conservation endeavours.
